Nurse and mum-of-two Leanne, from Brisbane, said she was ‘sick’ of her plastic containers coming out still wet when she put them in the dishwasher.

She decided to try the tea towel trick – which promises soak up any remaining moisture from the machine onto the tea towel.

Posting on her account, Leanne said once the cycle is done and her containers are still inside, she puts a clean tea towel on the door before closing it.

When she opens the door just 30 minutes later, the containers are completely dry.

‘Usually, if you use rinse aid or have a newer dishwasher the glasses and plastic containers dry during the cycle,’ she wrote.

‘However, if you find that your plastic containers and glasses don’t dry, placing a tea towel in the dishwasher door will absorb the moisture and dry the containers and glasses.’
